Association Football.

By Centre Forward.

The delay occasioned by the Management Committee of the Wellington Football Association, m making its cup fixtures, will be regretted at ths lattei part of the season. Invariably #ie despatch of the representative team, lntei - feres with the Charity Cup competition, and it is a matter for regret tha^j w hen players are eager for the fray someone is apparently negligent in carrying out his duties. * * * It is some weeks since the annual meeting was held, and the only meeting of the Management Committee' ennce was the one held last Wednesday evening. There are many very important matters to deal with which will require serious consideration. For instance, the Management Committee have no absolute assurance the Miramar prounds are available. It is true they have secured the pplo grounds, but these and grounds available elsewhere will not satisfy the demands of the teams. * * * Another important matter is the schools competition. It is imperative that matters dealing with the newly-es-tablished branch of the game must be vigorously handled. The delay of tfte presentation of the medals to the boys who won the championship last year is a matter which calls for special mention also. I have it on good authority thftt the boys are discouraged at not receiving their trophies, and if they carry out their intention they will not be contestants for the championship this season. It is to be hoped that the Manage* meat Committee or those responsible, will make amends for past neglect, and renew the work with their accustomed self-sacrificing, labours, and make this season a more prosperous one than tl}g last, despite the many drawbacks a,ijid obstacles which threaten to retard progress. * * * Although the number of entries for the various competitions is not vet \,o hand, there is every indication that t\)e third-class grade will be considerably increased this season. ♦ * * The Manst Old Boys have decided ij.pt to enter a team for the senior competition, on account of the lack of support last season.' TheY.M.C.A. will fill the breach with two teams. On account of the disbandment of the "Old Boys," Mick Fitzgerald, the renow ned goal-keeper, baa received an appointment in the Diamond eleven, and no doubt will creditably uphold his reputation with benefit to his new club ♦ • • General sympathy was felt by the many friends of Mr. Albert Wells, in his recent serious 1 illness. He is steadily recovering 1 . Albert has done with football, as his med'cal adviser counsels him to ha.ye a. spell for three years.
