The Cream of Miramar.
Mr. W. F. Shortt will hold his great sale of sections on the Miramar Homestead Block, on Thursday next, at his Premier Land Auotion Rooms, 78, WiJ-lis-street. There are 110 ohoioe building sites on this block, which is claimed to be the most desirable in the whole estate, both by reason of closer proximity to the city and other advantages just as solid. The vendors also offer some exceptional inducements. Two shares in thei Miramar Ferry Company will be given to each purchaser of a section.. Then, again there is the promise of a free family ferry-boat ticket, available for a whole year, to each of the first twelve purchasers who build wjthin one year a house to the value of £250. This is a. very liberal premium. * * * Finally, a section is to be given away free, gratis, and for nothing among the purchasers at the sale. Miramar is really easier of access tlhan Newtown, and it requires no uncanny powers to predict that in the very near future it will be tlhe favourite suburb of the Empire City. This Homestead Block is both sunny of aspect and particularly wellsheltered from wind, besides commanding a charming outlook over land and sea. The soil, too, is of excellent quality. To-morrow afternoon the Loyalty makes a free trip to the estate.

Christchurch " Truth " has seen fit to withdraw certain remarks which it recently made, and which were promptly taken exception to by Sir Joseph Ward as reflecting upon his personal and political character. They foi-med part of articles written on the subject of ports of call for the South African steam service. " Truth " now says : "We are satisfied that nothing Sir Joseph Ward has done in respect to the matter justified any such reflection and any imputation against his integrity was purely unintentional."
