Rowing Notes.

The following crews have been picked for the Star Boating Club Senior Double Sculls — Widdop and Gray, A. J S Thomson and Cooper, Skelley and J. A. Macleod, Barclay and McKenzie, Duff and Mow at. Junior Double Sculls W. Smith and Davidson, Kffliok and Warren, Northey and Raymond, Hamilton and Smythe, Watson and Barron, Boyes and Jieia, Baker and Brown, A. H. Johnstone and McLeod, Harrington and Mirufie, JUtdning and A. M. Thomson. There has been a difficulty in getting members to enter for these races. The quality of the crews is very poor, even folr club racing. Duff, in the Senior®, and Baker, in the Juniors, appear to be about the best of them. « • • Mr. Hill has picked the following new regatta orews, to represent the Wellington Club . — Maiden Fours Neilson, Dawson, Green, and Ellison. Junior Fours 0. Jones, Honour, Humphreys, and H. Jones. Maiden Double Sculls W. J. McKay and Neil son. I am told that Ellison will not be able to row. Acting under medical advice, T. Hameir has relinquished his seat in the Star Club Junior crew. He has not been looking at all well lately, and evidently lequires a good rest. Bridge has taken the seat, and should be of good service to the crew. The race to decide which crew shall represent the Star Club in, Maiden races will take place at the first favourable opportunity'- ♦ • * Owing to the marked superiority of the four-»ared crews from the Albert Park and Mercantile Clubs, m Melbourne, a suggestion has been made that, in order to give a little more interest and competition, the present seniors from these clubs should stand down for a season. There is every indication of large entries for the Championship Regatta. Besides- Dunedm Amateur and Otiago for the Pairs' and Double Sculls, the Queen's Drive is likely to send a crew for the Champion Fours. The Canterbury Club will probably be represented in the Fours, Pairs, Double Sculls, and Single Sculls, and Junioin and Maiden Fours. The Union Rowing Club, Christchurch, have a crew in training for the Senior Fours at Christchurch ißeigatta, which wall represent the club in the Junior Fours at Wellington and Wanganui. There was talk about the Senior Pairs being deleted from the Ohristchurch Regatta 1 programme this year, owine to the possibility of there beimg only two clubs competing, but the Committee has decided to retain the event. In view of the large number of entries for the Championship Regatta, there should be no question as to the probable success of the Wellington Regatta, as no doubt all of the Southern crews will be competdng. It will be a rush after racing at Wanganui, on the 19th, to get boats packed and arrive here in time to compete on the 21st. If Wanganui hatppens to strike a bald day on the Thursday, I am afraid it will affect the number of starters at Wellington, as most of the Southern crews will require to leave on the Saturday night. The Wellington Club will hold their annual swimming sports 1 on the 28th instant.
