WELLINGTON CITY COUNCIL. PROPOSED BYLAWS. NOTICE is hereby given that Resolutions were passed at a Special Meeting of the City Council of Wellington, held on Thursday, the 27th day of November, 1902, to make (by Special Order) the following Bylaws under " The Municipal Corporations Act, 1900," to amend and add provisions to " The Consolidated Bylaw, 1898." The above Resolutions will be submitted for confirmation at a Special Meeting of the Council to be held on WEDNESDAY, the 7th day of JANCARY, 1903, at 3 p.m., at the Council Chambers, Brandon Street, Wellington, when the date on which th£ said Bylaws will come into force will be fixed. The object and purport of the amending Bylaws are as follows : — I. To repeal Clause 25 of the Consolidated Bylaw, 1898, and to substitute in lieu thereof provisions to the effect that where any footway shall be constructed of asphalt, concrete, or concrete flags, or any other permanent material, one-half of the cost shall be borne by the owners of the land and buildings fronting thereon ; but so that such one-half shall not in the case of footways formed of concrete, concrete flags, or other permanent material, except asphalt, exceed three shillings per foot of the frontage, and in case of footways formed of asphalt one shilling per foot. 11. To amend Clause 24 (relating to the re-numbering of streets) of the Consolidated Bylaw, 1898, by adding the following words : — " Provided always that the Council shall have power at any time to alter the numbers in any street where it may be in the Council's opinion found necessary to do so, but subject, nevertheless, to the cost of such work being borne by the Council." Full copies of the above proposed Bylaws are deposited for inspection at the office of the nty Council, Brandon-street. JNO. R. PALMER, Town Clerk. 4th December, 1902.
