Bowling Notes.

It takes something unusual — say six inches of rainfall — to put a damper on the bowlers of the Wellington Club. In spite of the rain on Saturday afternoon they bowled away just as merrily as if the sun was shining, and rheumatics were out of the question. Victoria let its green have a rest. On dit that a Wellington Club four have been picked to receive challenges from any other club four who dare dispute their superior claims to represent the Club at the Champion Fours contest at Palmerston. Mr. James Burns's photograph by Fitz, now adorns the Thorndon Club's pavilion. J. B. looks more like Fitz's representation of him than before he went Home. Thorndooii Club starts the season with nineteen new members Thorndon had made great preoaraetions for cxpening the green on Saturday. However, man proposes, but Captain Ed wan disposes, and the weather upset things very considerably. The members weire there, visitors were there, and the refreshments were there, but the rain spoilt it all, and, after a few heads on a wet green, everyone was content to wait for finer weather.
