ST. PATRICK'S COLLEGE FOOTBALL TEAM.
Questioned as to the form of the Southland team in its Wairarapa engagement, ono of them informed me that tlu> ioim was all light' — it was the lefeieeing t hat was not up to the niaik. The championships of the Wellington Rugby Union have been won this season as follows — Senioi, Melrose , junior, Poneke , third-class, Southern , fourthclass, Oriental. The fifth-class has not yet been decided, but should be won by St. Patnck's College. Isaac Jenkins, who is captaining the Southland team, has a record which even ''Hen" Kelly and the evergreen Jimmy" Duncan cannot equal. The Southland Rugby Union was formed in 1887, and since then, including the match with Wellington on Wednesday last, has played forty-nine inter-union matches. Jenkins has represented his union m every one of its games, and has captained the team in many of them "Isaac" still looks young and cheerful despite his sixteen years of inter-union football, and hopes to top his half-century at any rate.
