In view ot the piobabihty of an Eighth Contingent being despatched to South Africa the following information is published ioi the guidance and infoimation of intending applicants. — 1. General. — Two battalions will be foimed consisting of Five Hundred (500) men each, one from North Island and one tiom South Island. 2 Applications. — Officeis — Apphcations to be submitted thiough officei commanding district at as eaily a date as possible. Non-Commissioned Officers and Men — Applications by lettei to be made to " The Reciuiting Officer Eighth Contingent " at the nearest of the tollowing leciuiting centies: — Wellington, Haweia, Wanganui, Napier, Gisboine, Palmeiston Noith, New Plymouth, and Masterton. Applicant should state height, chest measuiement, and weight, and also pievious military seivice; the physical standaid is fixed at between the heights of >ft 6in and )it lOin ; chest (expanded), 37in ; weight not to exceed twelve (12) stone.
