WELLINGTON CITY COUNCIL. NOTICE OF INTENTION TO MAKE RATES.
NOTICE is hereby given that the Council of the City of Wellington will at a Special Meeting to beheld on THURSDAY, the 2nd May, 1901, at 7.30 o'clock in the evening, make the following rates for the period commencing on the Ist day of April, 1901, and ending on the 31st day of March, 1902, viz. — 1. A General Rate for the general purf»oses of the Borough of one shilmg and three pence in the pound on the annual ratable value on the Valuation Roll of all ratable property within the Borough. 2. Water Rate, as follows —On all lands and Buildings within the Borough, and in portions of the Boroughs of Melrose and Karon by the Wellington (City l) Suburbs Water Supply Act, 1895, declared to be subject to the same Water Rates and charges as for the time being are levied and made in the City, used as dwelling-houses to which water is supplied — (a) Where the annual ratable value on the Valuation Roll does not exceed £12 10s, a rate of ten shillings. (b) Where such ratable value exceeds £12 10s, a rate of 4 per cent, on such value. One-half of the respective Water * Rates mentioned above on all lands and buildings to which water can be, but is not, supplied, situate within 100 yards from any part of the Corporation Waterworks. A Rate of 2\ per cent, on the ratable value of all buildings within the Borough, and the said portion of Melrose and Karori used as stores or warehouses, or for any purposes other than dwellinghouses. 3. A Rate under the provisions of the Hospital and Charitable Institutions Act, 1885, of threepence in the pound on the annual ratable value on the Valuation Roll of all ratable property within the Borough, such rate being required to meet the contributions payable by the Council to the Wellington Hospital Board and the Wellington and Wairarapa Charitable Aid Board. 4. A Rate under the provisions of the Municipal Corporations Act, 1900, of one penny in the pound on the annual ratable value on the Valuation Roll of all ratable property within the Borough, which rate shall be called "The Library Rate." Also, that all the above rates will be payable in two equal instalments, on the 15th day of May, 1901, and on the 15th day of November, 1901. Notice is also hereby given that the Council intends to levy a portion of the Special Rate of one shilling in the pound on all ratable property within the city —and in the portions of the Boroughs of Melrose and Karori by the Wellington (City) Suburbs Sanitation Act, 1893, declared to be subject to Special Rates made and levied by the Council of the City of Wellington for drainage purposes —made and struck on the 24th November, 1892, for interest and sinking fund on the Wellington City Sanitation Loan of £165,000; such portion to be fivepence in the pound on such ratable property, which portion of rate will be payable by two equal half-yearly payments to be made on the 15th May and the 15th November, 1901. Notice is also hereby given that the Council intends to levy a portion of the Special ißate of one penny in the pound on all ratable property within the City —and in the portions of the Boroughs of Melrose and Karori by the Wellington (City) Suburbs Sanitation Act, 1893, declared to be subject to Special Rates made and levied by the Council of the City of Wellington for drainage purposes —made and struck on the 3rd June, 1897, for interest on the Loan of £33,000 raised for completion of the Drainage Works of the City, such portion to be three farthings in the pound on such ratable property, which portion of the rate will be payable by two equal half-yearly payments, to be made on the 15th May and the 15th November, 1901. Aho, that the annually recurring Special Rate on all ratable property within the City for Interest and Sinking Fund on the City Improvements Loan of £100,000 will be payable in two equal instalments, on the 15th May and the 15th November, 1901, such rate for the period above mentioned to be at fourpence in the pound. Also, the annually recurring Special Rate of one penny m the pound on all ratable property within the City for interest on the Consolidated Loan of £200,000, to be payable in two equal instalments on the 2nd June and the 2nd December, 1901. Notice is hereby also given that the estimates of income and expenditure for the period for which the above-mention-ed rates are proposed to be made, and the Rate Books containing the particulars of all the above rates are now open, for inspection at the City Council Offices, Brandon-street, Wellington.
