MESSRS Mententh and Beere, acting for one John Reuben Skelley, have served a wiifc upon the proprietor of the Free Lance, alleging that a picture of a man, in relation t.o a cheque, in a recent jssiio of tins p.iper, was a picture of Skelley, and claiimn-,' damages for libel. As a matter of fact, however, the picture did not relate to Skollev in any way. It was not a picture of him, and was not intended to refer to bun either directly or indirectly.
