NELSON.

'‘Yesterday afternoon, the foundation stone of <a Wesleyan chapel was laid by Mr. Tuekett, on a reserve at the ; opener of .Bridge Street and the'Waimea Road. • The building is to be of bricks hod of 'dimensions. Mr. Tuekett briefly adverted to the advantages of the voluntary principle, and,: the , Rev. Mr- Aldred delivered a suitable address; We have before spoken of • the limestone burnt on one of the suburban sections about •three miles from the town. A.brick-built kiln has now for some weeks been' erCcted there, which enables the workmen to get the limestone thoroughly burnt; arid we are assured, by competent judges, that the lime is equal to any;they have ever seen. Brick buildings are now becoming general, and we'anticipate that no other other maierial will' be used ere long, unless, indeed, the excellent stone found near *he beach is brought; Into use. This iatter article is becoming quite general for hearth-stones, door-steps, &c., arid is- really' worked very cheaply.
