Saturday, Junk 17, 1843, - COUNCIL MKT. Present —Mr. Hunter,'Mayor, in the chair. Messrs. Aldermen -Lyon, Johnson, Scott, Jenkins, Dorset, Waitt. Minutes of former meeting read and confirmed. Mr. Guyton proposed—That the Marketplace in Manners'-street be opened for Stalls, and that the Town Surveyor 'be instructed to lay out the site thereof, in accordance with the selection 6f the Commissioners appointed 'by the Government, for the appropriation of the public reserve?. , Seconded by Mr. Lyon. Carried nem con. Dr. Dorset proposed—That the Town Surveyor be instructed to set out ten acres of the Town Belt, bounding on the‘ Karori road, for the purpose of being leased to the Horticultural Society. Mr. Hunter seconded. Carried nem con. Mr. Lyon moved, and Mr* Johnsou seconded —That the’-Town Clefk •be directed to give notice to the .persons at. present residing- upon the site fixed upon by the Commissioners l for appropriating the Public Reserves ; for public purposes to quit the same. Carried nem con. Adjourned till Wednesday 21.
