NELSON.
By the brig Guide from Sydney vid Taranaki and Nelson, Ave have received the Nelson Examiner to the 1 Oth, June, .from which we have made the following- extracts;: — The brig . Nelson - arrived at Nelson on the 9th instant, and reports having passed a light barque in the Straits. The schooner Imp, from the coast, encountered a squall at the entrance of the Gulf, in which a heavy sea carried away her bulwarks, boat, and one of her crew.
During the past week Captain Richards: has availed himself of the natural slip on Fifeshire Island, to lay up the Victoria and examine and clean her bottom. It will be .remembered that when the Governor visited Nelson, the brig was ran ashore in attempting .to beat out of the harbour at midnight without a pilot, but the present examination has shovyn that she sustained no injury. The saw-mill erecting -by Captain Thoms at the Motuaka, is nearly completed. It is expected to be .at work in,a fortnight or three weeks.
On Thursday, the keel of a 28 ton lugger was laid - at the -Haven, by a boat-builder named Freeman. She is intended for Claringbold, one of the pilots.
