Y WILLIAM SPAIN, a 1 Commissioner appoihted J. for investigating and determining titles and claims 9 to land in the colony of New Zealand, do hereby give notice that I fchall'proceed to investigate the undermentioned claims'at my office in Wellington aforesaid, on Thursday, the Bth day of June next, and following • days, at 10 o'clock in the forenoon. Claimants are reminded that the fee of 51. must be paid to me before the investigation of any claim, or any opposition thereto. Case No. 257 (a ) —Henry Moreing, of Wellington, Esquire, claimant. 2000. Two thousand acres, more or less, being all that piefee of land-known as the Island of Mana, or Warspite Island, in Cook's • Straits, about 14 miles S.W. of the Island of Kapiti or Entry Island. Alleged to have 'been purchased on the 25th April, 1832, from the native chiefs Rauparaha, Ranyi/meata.and Nohuroa, by Messrs. John Bell, Alexander Davidson, and Archibald Mosman. Alexander Davidson having, it is stated, transferred his interest in the above land to John Bell, the present applicant claims in virtue of a conveyance from Thomas Bell, (as father -and 'heir-at-law of the said John Bell, since deceased)-of the said Thomas Bell's interest or sharej and-also in virtue of an indenture of sale from the said Archibald Mosmau of his remaining third share and interest in the above land. Consideration—Merchandise to the value of 500 1. paid by instalments. Conveyance—Deed, dated as above, in favour of J. •' Bell, Davidson, and Mosman. Deeds to claimant from Thomas Bell, Archibald Mosman, and others. Case No. — James Heberly, of Wellington* master mariner, claimant. Land situate at Port Nicholson, Waikanae, Taranaki, ■■ and other places in New Zealand, Claimed as belonging to the children of the said James < Heberley in right of his native wife. Boundaries and contents not stated • Case No. ■ — George "Young, of Wellington, Licensed Victualler,-claimant. 1. One acre, more or less, ‘ being all that piece of ground situate upon the beach on the western shore of the harbour of Port Nicholson, in that part of the Town . fof Wellington now known as Lambton Quay, extending rom a-certain tree, to which the fence of claimant was formerly attached, about ’3so'feefc in a northerly direction along the beach just above high water mark, and ■ from the beach to the bank in the rear of the same. Alleged to have been - purchased in 1834 from Raumea Takiaka, and Patekawi, chiefs of the Kekori tribe, by claimant. Consideration —Various articles of merchandise, value not stated. And I also give further NOTICE, that on Tuesday the 23d instant, I shall open my court, at my office aforesaid, at 10 o'clock in the forenoon, and that I shall continue to sit daily at that hour until Monday, the. 19th day of June next, and be ready to hear any further evidence in such of the cases already advertised as have been commenced but not -completed, and also 'to investigate -any of the remainder of such cases as have not .yet been entered Tipon. And I do hereby give NOTICE, that on Monday the- 19th day of June next, aforesaid, I shall finally close my court in this district, after which no further evidence will be received in support of any of the cases which have from time to time been advertised for hearing.
