MUNICIPAL COUNCIL.
Wednesday, May 17, 1843. Present: —Mr. Hunter, mayor,Mr. Jenkins, Mr. Dorset, Mr. Guyton, Mr. Waitt, Mr. Scott. There being no motions before the council they adjourned till Saturday at 10 o’clock. Thursday, May 18. Pursuant to notice published in the New Zealand Colonist of the 9th May, and the New Zealand Gazette of the 10th May, the Mayor proceeded this day to hold an election of two Auditors according to the form prescribed by the 34 and 35 sec. sth Victoria, No. 6.
Mr. Alderman Jenkins proposed Mr. T. M. Partridge as a fit and proper person to be an Auditor for the Borough of Wellington for the present year. Mr. R. B. Tyser seconded the motion. Mr. Alderman Lyon proposed Mr. James Kelham as a fit and proper person to be an Auditor for the Borough of Wellington for the present year. Mr. Moses Yule seconded the motion. At the close of the poll the number of votes were 24. For T. M. Partridge, Esq 15 For James Kelham, Esq. 9
