MUNICIPAL COUNCIL.

Saturday, may 6, 1843. Present:—Mr. Hunter, Chairman, Mr. Lyon, Mr. Wade, Mr. Scott, Mr. Guyton, Mr. Waitt. Minutes of former meeting read and confirmed. Moved by Mr. Hunter and seconded by Mr. Scott: — “ That Mr. Lyon, Mr. Fitzherbert, and Mr. Waitt, be nominated as the three Aldermen to sign all cheques on behalf of the Corporation.” Agreed to nem. con. Mr. Wade proposed :—That a Borough Rate be fixed, and that the same be estimated upon the valuation of the land without regard to any improvements upon the same.” Consideration postponed until Wednesday next. The Mayor stated that he had-fixed Thursday, the 18th instant, for •the Election of two Auditors for the present-year. Adjourned till Wednesday next, the 10th, at 10 o’clock.
