Friday, February 4, 1843. Present,—Mr. Hunter, chairman, Messrs. Lyon, Wade, Jenkins, Scott, and Johnson. Minutes of last meeting confirmed. Letter from Secretary in attendance, conveying his Excellency’s answer to the three memorials presented to him; Ist, on the subject of the whale fisheries duties; 2nd, respecting the application of the Raupo House Bill; 3rd, on the subject of the position of the Corporation. ~ v Mr. Hunter proposed, seconded by Mr. Jenkins:— That an answer be returned to the letter of the Secretary in attendance, requesting his Excellency to proclaim the extension of the Raupo House Bill to the whole borough. Mr. Scott proposed, seconded by Mr. Wade : That the operation of the Raupo Act be restricted to the most populous part of the town. For the original motion 4, for the amendment 2. The Council then adjourned sine die.
