ITALY.

Murder by a Monk.—Rome, May 31. — Within the last few days an event of a very uncommon kind has produced a great agitation here. An ecclesiastic (Don Dominico Abbo) a native of Genoa, who formly belonged to the order of the Dominicans, had been excluded from his convent in consequence of disorderly conduct. He afterwards had lived a very irregular life, and gave great offence to his neighbours. He vented his ill-temper and discontent on a' nephew wh® lived with him, a boy of only 13 years 6f age. From the excluded manner in which Abbo lived, it was impossible for the neighbours •to prevent the almost daily illtreatment of the boy. For some time past, however, the usual cries of the youth had not been heard. When enquiries were made respecting him Abbo said that he was dead. On the undertaker bringing the coffin and proposing to strip the corpse, (which in central Italy is always done by the undertakers), Abbo objected, and said he would do that himself. On information of this being given to the police, the coffin was opened, and the body was found in a most cruelly mutilated state. The number of wounds and stabs, it is said, amounted to 90. Abbo is now brought before' the tribunal of the inquisition. There is no doubt that he will suffer the punishment of death for his horrid conduct. It is Understood, however, he will not be executed publicly, but within the walls of the inquisition/
