EXTRACTS FROM SYDNEY PAPERS.

LATEST ENGLISH NEWS. From the Sydney Morning Herald. We received yesterday pretty full files of London papers to the 18th July, nine days later than those which had previously come to hand. There is hut little news of importance, although the papers before us contain evidence of the fearful suffering of a large mass of the labouring population, which it is to be feared will end in some dreadful outbreak ; indeed, some riots in the Staffordshire potteries, showed symptoms of an organization among the unemployed which it is fearful to contemplate. What will he the result, if there is no change before the winter sets in ? There was every prospect of a most abundant harvest; the finest that has been seen for many years. Trade appeared dull, hut there was evidently an upward tendency in the price of wool, which, as there were twelve thousand hales of Colonial for sale on the 20th July, is gratifying. Oils were improving in price. From America the news was important. President Tyler had vetoed a Tariff Bill which had been passed by Congress, and declared he would not sanction any protective measure. Nothing had transpired respecting Lord Ashburton’s mission, but rumours of the most contradictory nature were circulated with great industry. It was confidently stated, however, that the negociations were drawing to a close.
