MUNICIPAL COUNCIL.
Thursday, November 17, 1842. Council mst. . Present, Mr. Hunter, Mayor, in the Chair ; Messrs. Lyon, Scott, Dorset, Guyton, Molesworth, Fitzherbert, and Jenkins. Minutes of last meeting read and confirmed. Mr. Lyon proposed, Mr. Fitzherbert seconded—That the Town Clerk <lo communicate with the protector of Native Reserves, as to the propriety of his using his authority and,influence with the natives resident ini this Borough to prevent the further erection of any Raupo Houses within the boundaries thereof, more particularly on the site of the native reserve at Kumu Toto Pah, to save them from tile 1 operation of the Ordinance Noi. 17, Vic. 5, imposing certain tax upon! Raupo Houses, and certain penalty on building the same after a given period. Question put, and agreed to.
Jjjroposed by Mr. Johnson, and seconded by Mr. Lyon~-Thnt Mr. Scott be added to the Bye-law Committee. , ••" till Thursday next, at 9 o’clock. _ < . , 0 —T-
