HIS Excellency the Governor has been pleased to direct the subjoined exti'act, from a Dispatch received from the Right Honorable the Secretary of State for the Colonies, on the subject of the Sale of Crown Lands in this Colony, to be published for general information. By his Excellency’s Command, WILLOUGHBY SHORTLAND. EXTRACT. Downing Street, February 14, 1842. “ Until you shall have received further instructions on this subject, you will be authorised to continue Sales by Auction, fixing the minimum price of Land for ordinary lots at no lower than twenty shillings per acre, and for Suburban and Town Lots at such a price as you may think expedient.” (Signed) STANLEY. Excellency the Governor has directed the Publication of the following passage from a Dispatch received from the Right Honorable the Secretary of State for the Colonies, on the subject of Emigration. By his Excellency’s Command, WILLOUGHBY SHORTLAND. EXTRACT. Downing Street, March 15, 1842. “ The Lords Commissioners of the Treasury have assented to my recommendation, for the appropriation to the purposes of Emigration to New Zealand, of the sum of <5612,,000, from the amount reported by you to have been realised by the Land Sales at Auckland; and have further intimated their readiness to authorise an advance of from the Commissariat Chest Fund, to defray the moiety of the expense of the Emigration under the Commissioners, which will be chargeable in this country.” (Signed) STANLEY, Governor Hobson, &c. &c. &c.
