CORONER’S INQUEST.
: An inquest was held before J. Fitzgerald* Coroner, on the, body of Henry Sutherland. 4 It appears from the evidence of Richard Robinson and Edward Bowler, that the deceased met his death in the praiseworthy attempt to save a child belonging to a Mrs. Parker, whicbi had accidently fallen into the river Waiwetul Botti Robinson and Bowler exerted themselves to the utmost, but on the body being drawn into the punt, life was extinct. The child was saved. Verdict.—Death from drowning.
We have had our attention directed to the narrow state -of the foot-paths near Mr. H. Robson’s stores, occasioned by the erection of some new buildings. Drays can now only pass at certain periods of the tide, and at night time, foot passengers run considerable risk of enjoying a cold bath without the trouble of undressing themselves. We presume that there are some authorities competant to remedy the nuisance; but if not, we hope that when the new corporation enter on their municipal duties, some measures will be taken to remedy the inconvenience.
