WHEREAS, by ail Ordinance enacted by the Go;* vemor of New Zealand, with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council thereof, Session 2> No. 6, entitled “An Ordinance io provide for the es- “ tablishment and regulation of Municipal Corpora- “ tions,” it is enacted, that every settlement within the Colony, Having a population of two thousand souls, shall be a Borough, and that His Excellency the Governor shall by Proclamation, declare the same to be a Borough within the meaning of 'the said Ordinance, and shall at the same time, with the advice of the. Executive Council, define the boundaries. thereof. And whereas, it is .also enacted, that His Excellency the Governor, shall by such Proclamation as aforesaid, a period within which all claims to the right of voting at the election of the first Council, shall be made, and shall appoint a fit person to receive such claims, and to act as., returning .Officer at such election. And whereas, the towp of Wellington contains a-population of upwards of two thousand souls. Now, therefore, I, the Governor, in pursuance of the provisions of - the said recited Ordinance, do hereby proclaim the said Town of Wellingfbn to be a Borough, within the meaning of the said Ordinance. And I d'O hereby, the advice of the Executive Council, define and declare the boundaries of the said Borough of Wellington, to comprise all lands within the line set forth, in the Surveyor's Plan, as the outside Boundaries of the Public.
