Lord Ashley sailed on Saturday for : Sydney with the English mails and 34 passengers The Au Kcvoir has gone up the Tamaki to discharge a quantity of stones for the bridge. The Victoria cleared for Rorotonga on Saturday, JJSjThes.s. Star of the South, 147 tons, Captain Anderson, left Napier on Wednesday; had easterly ; winds w.th heavy sea all the passage up ; arrived in the Tamaki on Friday, and d scharged 1,208 ; sheep, and came up the harbour on Saturday evening at 8 p.m. The Star of the South leaves Auckland or Napier to-morrow. She will there ship a cargo of cattle for Tauranga, and then return to Napier for a cargo of sheep for Auckland. We have to hand the files of the Hawke’s Bay papers to the 29th ultimo The Sylph for the Patea river and the Queen for Taranaki and Wanganui, sailed on Saturday. The s.s. Sir John Burgoyne, 64 lons, Captain Reeder, left nckland for Tauranga at 10 a.m. last Thursday, arriving there on Friday evening at 5 p.m. ; left again for Auckland on Saturday at 9 p.m.. with light S.W. winds and arrived here at 730 p in. She brings up 4 passengers and a mail, and reports everything quiet when she left. She sighted a brig apparently bound for this port outside Tiri Tiri. The Tauranga was coming out as the steamer went in on Friday evening. The Hope cleared for Tauranga on Saturday last.
