ARRIVAL OF THE LOUISA, FROM LONDON. The ship Louisa, 90.3 tons, Captain Hall, left London on the Bth, and Gravesend on the 9th November last

- j was detained by contrary winds in channel, and into Portsmouth for three or (our days. Had tine mostly on the passage. Made the Barrier hist Fridav and anchored yesterday at 4 p.ra. The L misa brin' V ' 305 passengers, and a large cargo, and is consii-nedf Owen and Graham. The above meagre outline 3 of th° passage was obtained from a passenger by her, Cant ■* Hall haring, in the rudest manner, refused to'give a information to the representatives of the Press. rJ following is our reporter’s version of the conversation that took place in her cabin on the occasion. He sut « that after waiting for some time, Captain Hall came in seemingly in a state of great excitement, and on look! ’ over to where the reporters were standing, said, « are you ? What do you want ? 1 don’t know anything about you, and clear out of that directly ?” reporter stated that he was a reporter for the Press, and the other reporters briefly explained their business, which Captain Hall only rejoined that he did not care anything for the Press, and r peuted his order to cleat out of that. Of course the reporters did not wait for an? further insult, but without condescending to bandy abase with Captain Hall, at once called their boats and "left the ship. We are of course not aware of the cause of Cap. tain Hall being so rutiled, but we tire certain that the reporters could not have given any reason for so unseemly and uncalled for a display of temper—the more strongly marked by the contrast between that of Captain Cornwell, of the Pegtisns, a few minutes later, and his own. We can only express our regret that in this instance greater care was not exercised by the owners of the Louisa, and that they did not select a gentleman to command her.

ARRIVAL OF THE PEGASUS El! M LONDON. The ship Pegasus, 1183 tons, Captain Cornwell Ift Gravesend on the 22nd December, and the v orc on the 24th. Went outside the Cape de Verdes, and crossed the Equator in 3J20 west on the 9th January. lh mereiianof the Cape was passed on the 14th February tit 47 de®. south with brisk and steady westerly winds. (41 Kermiclens Land she encountered a heavy S.E. gale, win hj lasted five days, and was accompanied wth sleet, hail, and rain Afterwards had strong N.W. winds, veering to S.VV, and vice versa. The easting was ran down betwe n the parallels of 49 deg. long. 50 deg. south, with eo d weather rain, hail, and snow. Tasmania was passed on the 16th March, and she here encountered a violent gale from the N.N.E., suddenly shifting to the 'bW. with heav and conflicting set. Afterwards she had light N.E winds, for three days, made the North Cape on toe 25th instant, 91 davs f'om Lon lon river; had strong N.E and S K, winds on the coast, with incessant r in, and anehore 1 in the harbor yesterday at 4p m. There las been one marriage, 1 birth, and 3 deaths on the passage, a d she brings 203 passengers and a large general cargo. The Peg sus has arrived ia port in a most clean and credi'able manner, and the passengers speak in tiie highest terms of the courtesy and attention of Captain Cornwell and his orti ;ers. Combos and ; Daldy, agents. THE SCHOONER WILDFIRE. We are sorry to state there appears to be scarcely any hope that the Wildfire has escaped the gales on the 9 hj and 10th instant. From a private letter addressed to a gentleman in Auckland, we learn that the Wildfire sailed from Hokianga on the 6th March; Captain lizard remaning on account of il'ness at Hokianga, and the vessel being in charge of Captain Orr, an old and experienced hand on the cotist. A brother of Captain Tizard being a passenger by her. Nothing was heard of the ves id until the 15 hj, when a Native arrived at Hokianga with the information that the stern of a vessel had come ashore a f.w miles north of Hokianga, with the name of the Wildfire on i f , and also another part, which was recognised by 'j’aptaia Tizard as part of the cabin trunks. The squaresail yard was also washed ashore. On making enquiry we find that the Wildfire’s stern was framed in with the vessel, and not a mere counterstern put on after she was built, its loss therefore must have been equiv dent to the breaking up of the vessel, and there is little doubt that she went ashore further to the northward, and that the wreck found by the Native had been driven aong the coast. We understand Mr Tizard of H.M. Customs went away yesterday overland to Hokianga to endeavour to chain farther intelligence of this melancholy occurrence. PORT OF ON EH UNO A. DEPARTURES.
