Erratum.— ln Air. Utting’s letter in our issue of yesterday, the following mistake occurs. In the second koe of the sixth paragraph, for “ a velocity of 4S 'bet per sc '..id,” read “ a velocity of 4 - 8 feet per second.” Immigrants for Auckland.— The following vessels are reported by the Neio Zealand Examiner as disoatched tor this port;— Messrs. Shaw, Savill, and Co have dispatched the ‘ Belgravia’ for Auckland. The ‘ Dauntless’ took on board .325 adults (free emigrants) for the province of Auckland, mostly from the North of Ireland, and left Kingstown on December 31. Messrs. Houlder Brothers and Co. have dispatched the ‘ Pegasus’ for Auckland, having on board a large number of assisted passengers selected by Captain W. C. Daldy, agent-general for the province of Auckland. The saloon passengers comprised Colonel Smith and family, Lieutenant Eden, Mr. and Mrs. Bruce and family, Mr. C. Y. O’Conner, the Rev. Mr. Davis, and were under the medical charge of Da Bateson, Assault. —A man of the name of Ryan, an old offender, was apprehended by constable Jackson yesterday evening on a charge of having assaulted Dr. Lee, of Ilobson-street. Oneiiunga Meeting. —Owners and occupiers of property in the town of Onehnpga, are informed through our advertising columns that they are requested to meet in the Institute, Onehnnga, this evening to take into consideration the Onehnnga Improvement Bill that is at present before the Provincial Council. Parnell Bazaar.— lt is notified thaf a bazaar will be held in the month of June next in aid of the funds for the purchase of a site and the erection of school buildings in St. Mary’s Parish. California Circus. —By adveitiseraent it will be perceived that the Californian circus troupe purpose to perform at Onehnnga for three nights only, commencing Thursday and terminating on Saturday nextAuckland Rifle Volunteers.— Major T. E. Campbell notifies that the funeral of the late private Edward Griffiths, No. 1 Company, will take place on Thuisday next at 3 o’clock p.m. The officers and men of this and other-companies are invited to attend. Northern Association. —The members of the Northern Association are to meet in the council room of the Chamber of Commerce, at 4 o’clock this day. Catholic Church, Ctahuhu.—ft is notified that the new additions to the church will be blessed on Sunday next by Bishop Pompallier, the ceremony commencing a little before 11 o’clock, a.m. Prince of Wales Theatre. —Mr. Edwards appeared as Edgar Ravenswood in the drama of “ The Bride of Lararaerraoor” at this theatre last evening, and took his part with great judgment. Miss Eloise Juno played that of the unfortunate heroine, Lucy Ashton, with much pathos and feeling, and won the cordial sympathy of a large audience by her pleaing manner and address in rendering the part. The more sombre portions of the tragedy were relieved by the comic contrivances of the canny Caleb Balderstone, a Vole that suited Mr. Shiels most admirably. The other characters were also well filled, and both this piece and the farce—a most amusing one, entitled •‘Jem the Dodger”—went off with great success. In one of the American towns the postmaster, by skilful manoeuvring, has managed to retain his office through several successive changes in the administration. Being asked how he managed, he replied that "it would take a mighty smart administration to change quicker than he could.’’
