Original Correspondence.
To the Eilitor of the New Zealander. Sir, —A writer in this day’s ‘ Southern Cross * enquires “ what becomes ol the money that is received from cattle, horses, and sheep, that are put into the Government Domain ?” Really, Mr. Editor, your vigilance as a sentinel over the safety of the public will be very questionable, if you neglect to give us due information of all the changes that occur in this age ofchange. It is the first time I was aware that cattle, sheep, or horses paid their own expenses, which must undoubtedly be the case, otherwise the sagacious correspondent of the ‘ Gross ’ would not have enquired about the money received from them. The author of this really spicy literary gem, and the staff of the * Cross,’ are entitled to the thanks of the public for this startling and eitraordinay discovery. A Friend to Education. Auckland, Oct. 27th, 183-1. To the Editor of the New Zealander. Sir, —I read in to-day’s Southern Cross thus « We also stated that Me member for the City,” &c. I always thought there were three members for the Citv. Who does the Editor of the Southern Cross mean to allude to as ' the member for the Cm” par excellence ? Mr. L. O’Brien (the member who had the greatest number of votes recorded in his favour) —Mr. J. O’Neill —oi the last elected, Mr. W. Brown 1 Yours, &c., Qf!
