Commercial Record.
New-Zealander Office, Auckland, October 20th, 1854. Business continues precisely as we last reported ; the Commercial transactions of the day being restricted to the mere immediate demand. We have had the Marmora and another arrival or two from the coast; and, by these, 4730 bushels if wheat, 1100 bushels of maize, and 2 tons of salt pork have come to hand. Notwithstanding a belief, not long since very generally entertained, that there were from 70,000 to 80,000 bushels of wheat then to arrive, it is now confidently affirmed that, as far as the East Coast is concerned, the stocks have been tolerably wellgleaned, occasioned by the pretty extensive exports which have been going on from that quarter to Wellington as well as to Auckland. Several small craft have yet to arrive with cargoes for this port; but doubts arc expressed of large vessels, which are now on the East coast, being able to fill up. Notwithstanding the glut of Chilian flour in the Sydney and Melbourne markets, and the consequent depression of price, New Zenland wheat is affirmed to be in demand and saleable there at even higher figures than the quotations given. Such, at least, is here positively asserted to be the fact ; and of our stocks of grain 1000 bushels of wheat are about to be shipped for Sydney to complete a previous order, and upwards of 1000 bushels of maize are being exported to llobart Town. Tha Millers have, this week, lowered the price of flour 40s, per ton, but no furthei reduction is anticipated; on the contrary, the opinion obtains that a rise may be again expected, as any expoitation of grain from hence cannot be safely spared until after (lie ensuing harvest. The recent cutting winds have, we regret to loarn, iu .i partial degree, occasioned a blight in the late luxuriant potato fields. This, however, a few days of the geniral weather which has, we hope, now set in, aided by a seasonable shower or two, will speedily remedy. The other crops, we rejoice to hear, wear not only a promising aspect, but exhibit a breadth of cultivation far surpassing anything that has yet occurred in the Agricultural annals of Auck I and. The prospects for the ensuing harvest may therefore truly be considered to be of a satisfactory character.

SYDNEY COMMERCIAL INTELLIGENCE. Friday Evening, (Xtobpr 6. A ratber healthier tone seems now to pervade the market; and although the business of the week, owing to the several interruptions, lias been limited.[and quotation*, show no actual iinprovenier , yet a better feeling prevails, and the commencement of a brisk upcountry trade so near at hand, combined with the continuation of favourable weather, begins to inspire even our croaking friends with more confidence. There are very few articles at present in demand. Tea, suear, oilmen's stores, provisions, fluids, tobacco, grain, canvas, metals, drapery, ironmongery, saddlery, stationery, glassware, earthenware, jewellery, and fancy stock, are all dull alike, but each day now will neces« sarily occasion more or less movement. We have no alteration to note eitber is discounts or exchange. Money continues, rather less in demand. A assortment of soft goods was sold by Mr. Newton on Wednesday last, at bis rooms. The attendance of buyers was scarcely as full as usual, and pries were not as well maintained. For the season ihl- portion, however, there was a fair competition, but for next se son's goods, the prices ruled rather lower. Oilm- u'* stores, &c, were sold this day, by Messrs. Rich, Langley, and Butcbart, as also by Messrs. Coben and Co. The trade being divided, the prices, realised were nor, probably, equal to what they otherwise might bave been. As it was, the rates, obtained sbowed, ill most articles, a decline of full 5 per cent. A sale of fluids took place at the rooms, of Messrs. De&n this day. There being but little disposition to buy the major portou of the a-tiel j s were withdrawn. Mr. Newton sold this day, a parcel of congou tea, ex Aurora, in broken packages, at 735. to 745. per chest,; also, a quantity of American shoulders, at to 4J per lb.; and 10 cases No. 2 Manila cigars, at 60s. per thousand.
Mr. Muriel concluded, [Lis day, a sale of books, comprising upward* volumes, of standard works, published by the princij al bouses, in Great Britaio. There was each day a full attendance of the trade, and the competition tor many of the lots was particularly keen. I'pi-n the who e, we should think prices were as good as was anticipated. In our import markets few forge transactions bare to be reported. In soft and fancy goods tbere is scarcely any demand. In the spirit, wine, and beer markets the prices, in legitimate affairs, are fully sustained, but in f.jrced sales «acriric-es must have been lately made. The Mi lis. —Messrs. Barker and Co.—The price of wheit is nominally the same as list quoted, but scarcely anv is offering for sale. The flour market continue* dull, without alteration of price—say £2B fine, and £26 second quality. Bran. 3a, (id. per bushel. Mr. Breilat ; Wheat is fiom 9s. to lis. per bushel, but very little is arriving to market. Fine flour is firm, at £2B, seconds £'26 per inn. Bran, 3s. 6d. per bushel. Blessrs. Furlong and Kennedy ; so little wheat is ax« riving, that its market price is but a nominal affair: lis. however is the quotation. Flour is at £23 for fine, and £ L 26 for second quality, per too. Bran. 3s. 6d. per bushel. Messrs. Derklemaii and Bate ; Wheat is not now arriving iu quantity sufficient to make a market price, though nociiin lly it is worth lis. to lis. 6d. per bushel. There is no alteration in the flour market—pr sent price at thes.« mills £27 for fine, and £25 for seconds, per ton. Br.iii, 3s. 61. per bushel. American Flour.—"l he last importation of Chilian flour is stored for a higher figure than the market wil at present afford. Holders of Gallego are firm, at 80s per barrel. Bread- Bd. the 2lb. lo.»f. Biscuit.—At Messrs. Wilkie and Mitchell's Steam B scuit manufactory, the quorations are, cabin biscuit 405., pilot, 3is., aid ship, 30'., per cwt.: andmeat biscuit, :'.o>. per tin of 301 lis. Mi'.
