Sales; h2> Auction. SALE OF LANDED PROPERTY And Good-will of an Extensive GROCERY RUSINESS. BY ORDER OF THE TRUSTEES OF THE ESTATE OF THE LATE WELLESLEY HUGHES, ESQ. MR. J. NEWMAN lias been instructed by the Trustees of the late Wellesley Hughes, to Sell by Auction, on the Premises in Shorlland-street, within three days after the arrival of the “William Denny,” steamer, from Sydney, which will be about the 25th October—(the precise day of sale will Lie notified by placard or notice in the local papers) All the REAL ESTATE comprised in the following lots:— LOT 1. All that Property in Shorlland-street known as Mr. Hughes’s GROCERY STORE, with the GOOD-WILL of the Business. Rounded on the North by Shorlland-street 52 feet, on the East by Allotment No. 8, 140 feet, on the South by the second lot in this catalogue 50 feet, and on the West by Thompson’s Lane, leading to Chancerystreet, 140 feet. The BUILDING (erected on a substantial scoria foundation) comprises a large SHOP, covering the entire frontage, a Back Parlour and Breakfast-room, with three Bed-rooms on the first floor; a Drawing-room on the second floor, 20 feet by 12 feet, and two Side Rooms. The Outbuildings in the yard comprise Stables, Hay-loft, Carriage-house, Woodhouse, and a Store extending the entire length of the building, dry and floored throughout. LOT G, Adjoining Lot 5, and has a frontage of 55 links to Victoria-street, with 55 links to the same Government Lane, and the same depth as Lot 5. LOT 7. Corner Allotment at the junction at Wakc-fiield-slreei, Symond’s-strecl, and Edwards’strcct,—shown on the City Plan as Lot 84, with a Street frontage of 50 feel. LOT 8. All that Allotment of Land being Lot 14 a, Section 56, having a frontage to Symond’sslreet, containing three roods nineteen perches. LOT 9. The adjoining Allotment being Lot 71, Section 56, containing 2 roods, with a frontage to Symond’s street. LOT 10. 3 acres, 3 roods, and 9 perches of rich Meadow LAND, being Lot 22, situated in the Suburbs of Auckland, at Pukekawa, adjoining land belonging to W. S. Grahame, Esq., and the Lord Bishop of New Zealand, bounded on the North by a road, 295 links; on the East, by Lot 23, 1306 links; on the South, by a road, 293 links; and on the West by Lot 21, 1311 links. In offering the above PROPERTIES, the Auctioneer feels, relieved from giving the elaborate description usually required to point out the advantages connected with the purchase; in this instance they are so clear that every citizen can at once appreciate them. Lot 1 is universally admitted to be one of the very best business sites in the City of Auckland. Theeslablisbmenlistheoldestand has continued to be the most lucrative GROCERY BUSINESS in the Province. The successful purchaser, with proper care, can scarcely fail to realize a fortune. In speaking of the Estate as a whole to those who knew the late proprietor, nothing need be said, and to those who were not privileged with bis acquaintance, it may safely be added, that the different Lots have been selected by one whose judgment on such matters was rarely known to err. They may safely be said to form some of the best silos in the metropolis of New Zealand, and circumstances may not soon arise to throw such property into the market again.
