A WORD TO THE MEMBERS OF THE PROVINCIAL COUNCIL.
Gentlemen, — Not only the eyes of your own Province are upon you in all your proceedings, but the eyes of all the other Provinces ; and this Session, following immediately upon the meeting of the General Assembly and in the same place, will be watched with more than usual interest. It is in your power to do much, very much’ for the future benefit of your Province in this one Session. Continue what y r ou have shown yourselves to be—a real working body, carrying out practical measures for our future welfare—and y'our constituents can well excuse your not possessing high oratorical powers, which ate so apt to lead astray the possessors of them, and make them fancy they are “statesmen cut and dried.” But work with little talk, is what 10c want. You will have before you, doubtless, some very important measures, and will have to correct perhaps some errors which may have crept into our Constitution. You will have to regulate several departments which will perhaps come under your supervision, and you have greatly' the confidence of the community' that you will do it well. But concentrate your energies on the real important measures of the Session, and he not led astray by thrice told grievances of by-gone times. Y'ours, faithfully', A.\ Elector. Auckland, Oct. 13.
