Province of Auckland 1 to wit. j WHEREAS a Writ under the hand of Robert Henry Wynyard, Esq., Companion of the Most Honourable Order of the Bath, Superintendent of the Province of Auckland, bearing date the second day of October, one thousand eight hundred and flfty-feur, hath been directed to me, Thos. Beckham, Esq., as Returning Officer for the Suburbs of Auckland, requiring and commanding me to cause to be elected by and from amongst the Voters, duly qualified for that purpose, Ircely and indifferently, and in manner and form by Law prescribed, one person to serve as a Member of the Provincial Council for the Suburbs of Auckland, in place of W illtam Field Porter, Esq., resigned. Now, therefore, 1 the said Tugs Beckham, Esq., Returning Officer for the Suburbs of Auckland, do hereby, in pursuance of the said recited Writ, give notice that a Public Meeting of the Electors of the Suburbs of Auckland will be bolden at the Police Office, Queen-street, Auckland, on Thursday, the nineteenth day of October, instant, at noon, for the purpose of Nominating one person to serve as a Member of the Provincial Council for the Suburbs of Auckland, and in the event of a Poll beingdemanded for the Candidates, or any of them, such Polling shall take place on Friday the twentieth day of October, instant, at the Police Office, Queen-street, Auckland; the Voting to commence at any time after nine o’clock of the said day, and to dose at four o’clock on the afternoon of the same day. Auckland, October 2nd, 1854. Gi ENTLEMEN,—The resignation by r Mr. PORTER of the seat he held in the Provincial Council, has caused a vacancy in the Representation of the Suburbs of Auckland. Although,in offering myself as a Candidate for the vacant seat, I may not be able to urge any strong claims on your favourable consideration, you will, I trust, permit me to call to your recollection, that I am one of the oldest residents in this district, and that my desire has ever been to contribute as far as I have been able, towards its advancement and prosperity. Also, Tolara Piles not less than 10 inches diameter in the middle, and from 25 feel long upwards.
