THE BREVET.
On June 20th, Her Majesty appointed the following officers, serving in Australia, to take rank by brevet; — 11th llcgimcnt—-Licut.-Gen. Sir John Wilson, K.C.B. to be General; Licut.-Col. H. K. Bloomfield to be Colonel; Majors John Singleton and A. 11. L. Wyatt, to be Lieut.-Coloncls; Capt. E. L. Bloss to be Major. 40th Regiment.—Licut.-Gen. Sir Alexander Woodford, G.C.8., G.G.M.G., to be General. sßth Regiment.—Lieut.-Col. Robert H. Wynyavd to be Colonel; Major Cyprian Bridge to be Lieut.Colonel; Captains T. 11."Lave and C. W. Thompson to he Majors.
65th Regiment.—l.ieut-Col. Charles Emilus Gold to be Colonel; Major A F. W. AVyat to be LieutColoncl; and Captain AV. P. Young to be Major. 99th Regiment.—Lieut General Sir John Hambury, K.C.H, to be General; Colonel Henry Dcspard to be Major-General; Lieut-Col. John N. Jackson to ■ be Colonel; Major Phillip Smiley to be LieutColonel : and Capt. H. J. Day to be Major. Stall’.—Lieut-Col, William A. M'Clcverty. Deputy Quarter Master General, to be Colonel; Lieut-Col. Edward Maearthur, Deputy-Adjutant General, to be Colonel. y; r H. E, Fox Young, now Governor of South Austialia is to be Governor of New Zealand. Sir William Denison, the Lieutenant-Governor of Van Diemen’s Land, is to be appointed to New South Wales, vice Sir Charles Fitzroy. Sir George Grey, the Colonial Secretary of State, has appointed Lord Hobart and Mr. Samuel Whitbread, to be his private secretaries at the Colonial Office. Mr. Whitbread receives no salary, in consequence of having a seat in Parliament. Sir Charles Fitzjoy, Governor of New South Wajes, and Sir John Davis, Bart., are appointed K.C B.’s.
