It will be seen by an announcement in onr advertising columns that Sir George Grey has accepted an invitation from a number of the leading Colonists of this city and neighbourhood (amongst whom, we understand, are the bishop of New Zealand and Chief Justice Marlin) to a Public Dinner lo take place on Monday next at the Odd Fellows Hall,—that building having been fixed upon, we believe, because its large room is the only one in Auckland sufficiently spacious lo afford a probability of adequate accommodation for the numbers who may be expected lo attend -short as the notice must be now that it is understood that His Excellency and Lady Grey intend lo proceed lo England by the Commodore , which is expected to sail early in the next week. On Monday an Address was presented to His Excellency from the Bishop and fifteen of the Clergy of Urn Church of England. This, with His Excellency’s Reply, we hope to publish in our next. We are informed that addresses lo His Excellency have also been sent in from Natives in various purls of the Province, and that others are in course of preparation.
