The resident, some six years ago, held a .very profitable Bush License, and was much resorted to by pleasure parlies, and invalids, as also by the farmers and sawyers of the neighbouring mainland. And there remains a long-neglected Garden and Orchard, formed wa'ks, etc. Its waters abound with fish, and its adjacent deep creeks, and limbered lands with pigeon and duck. To a retired person of means, it offers a delicious and salubrious retreat, with i delightful water and forest landscape:-an ample field for floral and botanical pursuits, and the never-failing resources of the fishingrod and the fowling-piece. It is eminently fitted for sheep-farming, as it would need no fencing, and would be easily covered with English grasses, which thrive well. The produce of the Garden alone would more than pay the rent required, evening in supplying the shipping alone in the season at Mongonui, where there are as many as thirty large ships at one lime.
