NEW INDEPENDENT CHAPEL. \ T a MEETING held in the Independent School Room, Albert-street, on Wednesday evening, Nov. 16th, 1853, W. C. Daldy, Esq., in llie Chair, the following resolutions were unanimously passed : Ist. That this Meeting, from motives of Christian obligation and benevolence, and from the increasing success that has attended the ministry of the Rev. T. Hamer, pledges itself to the use of such means as may widen the sphere of his usefulness. Moved by Mr. Francis, seconded by Air. Clarke, supported by Mr. Waytc. 2nd. That this Meeting lake into consideration the idcreasing attendance since the removal of the Church from the Hall, Queenstreet, to the School Room, Albert-street; the difficulty of accommodating more than now attend; and as in this part of the City the Church accommodation is totally inadequate to the wants of the rapidly increasing population, resolves, in accordance with the resolutions of a laic Church Meeting, to commence operations for the building of a new and commodious place of worship. Moved by Mr. Woodham, seconded by Mr. Edmonds, supported by Air. S. E. Hughes. 3rd. That the present Meeting desires to encourage the Deacons and Chapel-building-Commiltee to proceed immediately with the work referred to: guided by the Plans and Estimates which have been adopted; by commencing subscriptions, and appointing Collectors to solicit the aid of the friends of religious extensions in this Province, who, it is confidently believed, will readily assist in the present undertaking, which is hoped will lend to the spread of the Gospel. Moved by Air. Retts, seconded by Mr. Fleming, supported by Air. Warner and Air. Rutherford.
