SPIRIT MOVING—TURNING OF THE TABLES, From jEsop downwards we have heard Of many curious fables; But cone so curious by a half As them ere “ Turning Tables.” A Mr. Doodle last week tried To show the gammon true; I would not say the cobbler lied, But—Cock-a-doodlc-doo! To turn the tables neatly has With wits been aye a game, No wonder that mere timmer-heads Are “turned” to look for fame. Thus I was sceptic : deaf to proof, Until I lately tried : But, under the experiment,’ I precious nearly died ! Five of us met, the other night, With table like a mirror. On whose bright surface crystal shone Clear in this sunny weather. And aye we joined our hands in song, And aye wc called “ another,” Until we reached the “ moving point,” And sang “Lang syne” together. And joining hands, and joining hearts, Our chorus science spurning, My affidavit I would give, J saw the Tables turning ! A Convert, —Ayr Advertiser.
