ELECTIONS FOR THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES.
It is, we confess, with a feeling of »aiifi cation that we record that yesterday rleC" of the long series of Elections undertheS Constitution Act tookplace, and that, so soon as the returns from the out-stations of thJ Northern and Southern Divisionscometohand we shall have the elections of Superintendent of the Province, of the Provincial Council and oflheßcpresentativesofthe Auckland Province in the General Assembly, all completed* and it will then only remain that the genilemea on whom the choice of the constituencies has fallen should set themselves, as soon and as zealously as may be, to the study and performance of the several important charges which the votes of the people have entrusted to them. We proceed to give the returnsof yesterday's elections so far as they are yet known here. Northern Division. The candidates for this Division, as our readers are aware, were Thomas Spencer Forsailh, Esq., Allan Esq., and Dr. Lee. The following were the numbers at the close of the poll at the Auckland Polling Place. The following were the numbers at the close of the Poll yesterday at the Onejhjnga Polling Place. Powditch ; . .51 Gray . . . . 46 Taylor • . . . -. 39 North Shore. O'Neill . . . . V 6 Lee . . , . . U Forsaith . ... 3 St. Paul's Church.—We are requested to state that, on and after this evening, there will be Divine Service in St. Paul's Church every Wednesday evening, commencing at seven o'clock.
