AUCKLAND, WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 24, 1853. Sales of Landed Property.
Be just and fear not: Let all (lie ends thou aim'st at, be thy Country's, Thy God's, ami Truth's.
The advancing prosperity of Auckland and its district which it has recently been our agreeable duty to point out in a variety of aspects, is further evinced by the increased value of landed property at present, as compared even with a year or two back. A notice of the amounts realized by some of the public and private sales which have been effected within a few clays will abundantly confirm the truth of ibis statement.
On Saturday last, Messrs. Council and Hidings sold the following properties: -Lot 2, of Section No. 4, in Commercial Bay, having a frontage of 66 feet to Custom House Street and a depth of 75 feet, realized 412/. 10s., being at the rale of 6/. ss. per foot.—An allotment in Upper Queen Street, with a frontage to that Street of 77 links, was sold lor 145/.—Two allotments in Freeman's Bay, of a quarter of an acre each, realized the respective sums of 58/. and 20/.—And a farm in the Papakura district, consisting of LSI acres, realized ihe sum of 208/. 55., being ill the rate of 255. per acre. Mr. A. W. Hansard also effected the following sales within a few days:---Mangarei (parish of Manurewa) on ihe Manukau, four allotments, recently bought at 5/. per acre, have readily sold at from 4/. to 5L per acre.—ln the suburbs, on Kvber Pass Road, 5 acres, with house and garden, 450/.—Also 124 feet frontage by 222 feet with house, 500/. —Also an allotment with frontage to same road, by 122 feet deep, at \l. Is. per foot.—Also another (aback allotment) 294 by 107, 100/.—ln the City of Auckland —Shortland Street, a frontage of 55 feet, 1550/., or upwards of 40/. per foot.—ln the same Street, two allotments, 24 feet frontage each, by 85 feet. —Let on 14 and 21 years improving leases, at 50/, and 25/. per annum. There are now in the town but few houses to be let, and many improvements and new houses are (notwithstanding the present high prices of building materials) to be noticed, whilst it is evident that their owners have not miscalculated, as even at the moderately advanced rents for which landlords are looking, tenants are readily found.,
