Southern Division, Polling Places.— In the list which wo published, a few days since, of the polling places at the forthcoming elections of Representatives for this Division, those at the Pensioner Settlements were accidentally omitted. We now remedy the defect by reminding the electors whom it may concern that they may record their votes not only at the Court House, Ouchunga, or at any of the other places which we have already enumerated, but also that polling-places have been appointed,—for Howick, at the Police Office; for Pamnurc, at the School House;—and for Olahuhu, at Mr. Foley's Sir George Grey Inn.
Bay of Islands Elkctions.— We are informed that the elections for this District have taken place, and that Messrs. J. Busby and G. Clarke have been returned for the Provincial Council, and Mr. Hugh Carleton for the House of Representatives. There were no other candidates in the field. Ri-sidfnt Magistrates Cocut.—A ease was tried on Thursday in which Frederick Mosheim, a passenger from Melbourne in the Kestrel, sought damages from the master, Captain Wallace, on the ground that the provisions supplied during the voyage were bad in quality and insufficient in quantity. Mr. Whitaker appeared for the plaintiff, and Mr. Merriman for the defendant. Judgment was deferred until Thursday next.
