By the Sisters we have received the Taranaki Herald to the 29th of Juno.
The hustle of the elections was coming rapidly on the Province. Mr. Flight, as Returning Officer, had given notice that the Nomination and Polling for Superintendent would take place on the loth and i6th of this month, —Friday and Saturday next. Messrs, liaise, Charles Brown, and Wickstccd continued to press their respective claims as candidates. The following gentlemen had also issued addresses soliciting the suffrages of the voters. For the Town of New Plymouth , Mr. F. W. Gledhill, and Mr. Henry Scotland, for the House of Representatives; and Mr. J. N. Wall, Mr. S. Vickers, Mr. A. King,and Mr. T. W. Shnle for the Provincial Council. — For the Grey and Hell Districts, Sir. K. Parris and Mr. F. Hirst for the House of Representatives; and Messrs. George Cutfield, Peter Elliot, R. Chilman, and R. Phoney (in a conjoint address) for the Provincial Council. Complaints of the wantof Land continued to be strongly urged. The Herald of the 291h hist. says “ The situation of New Plymouth in regard to land negatives the possibility of progiess”: and declares that the passengers by the recently arrived English vessels whose object may be the acquirement of land cannot get it in that settlement. In the New Plymouth markets, Flour was 25/. per ton for fine, 20/. for seconds; Bread, Gd. per 21b. loaf; Wheat, Bs. per bushel; Potatoes, 51. 10s. per ton.
