NOTICE, pOLONEL WYNYARD’S COMMITTEE Xy have not thought it necessary to notice and confute the general statements made by the Southern Cross newspaper, respecting the assumed fictitious character of many of the signatures appended to the requisition to Colonel Wynyard. But as advantage has been taken of the omission of the Rev. Mr. Fynes’ name from the Electoral Roll, as though this omission, which was solely occasioned by an error on the part of the Committee, were an evidence that the Rev. Gentleman himself had either been entrapped into signing the requisition or had sinceseen cause to alter his intention respecting the Candidate—they now deem it to be their duty, not only to deny the truth of the allegation in general, but in particular to disabuse the minds of any who may have been misled respecting the intention of the Rev. Mr. Fynes. For this purpose they have permission to publish the following letter. Wm. Powditcii, Chairman. Committee Rooms, 7th June, 1853. To Col. Wyn yard's Committee. Howick, June Ist, 1853. Gentlemen, —1 acknowledge the receipt of your's of 31st ull., referring (o the omission of my name from the Registration Roll, and in answer reply—When I signed the Requisition, I intended to support, to the last, Col. Wynyard. In consequence, however, of a certain misunderstanding, which has since been satisfactorily explained tome, my name has not been registered, and my vole is, therefore, lost.
