Province of Auckland, 7 to vM. ) WHEREAS a Writ under the hand of Sir George Grey, Knight Commander of the Most Honourable Order of iho Bath, Governor and Commander in-Chief in and over ihe Islands of New Zealand, &c., tvc., bearing date the twenty-sixth day of May, One thousand eight hundred and fifty-three, hath been directed to me, Thomas Beckham, Esquire, Resident Magistrate, as Returning Officer for the City of Auckland, the Suburbs of Auckland, and the Northern Division, requiring and commanding me to cause to be elected by and from amongst the Electors duly qualified for that purpose, freely and indifferently and in manner and form by Law prescribed, one Person to serve as Superintendent for the Province of Auckland; Now, therefore, 1, the said Thomas Beckham, Esquire, Resident Magistrate, Returning Officer for the City of Auckland, the Suburbs of Auckland, and the Northern Division, do hereby, in pursuance of the said recited Writ, give notice that a Public Meeting of the Electors of the City of Auckland, the Suburbs of Auckland, and the Northern Division, will be holden in the Market Place, Shortland-slreet, Auckland, on the Twentieth day of June next at noon, for the purpose of nominating one Person to serve as Superintendent for the Province of Auckland, and in the event of a Poll being demanded for the Candidates, or any of them, sucli Polling shall take place on the Thirtieth day of June next, at such Market Place aforesaid, the voting to commence at any time after nine o clock of the said day, and to close at four o clock in the afternoon of the same day.
