PRODUCE CIRCULAR. Melbourne, 2nd March, 1853. g IR —The improvement in business which we reported* in our last circular has been maintained and there Inis been a very active demand this month for ad kinds of produce. The immigration has only reached 3302 sou s, and the cargoes have been smaller and of le.-s importance th .n for many months past, Breadstuffs have been offering freely, and there has b- en some movement in Flour during the last few f ja\ 3. Best Adelaide samples are now worth £25 per ton. Wheat and Barley are hardly in the market has yet] but Oais are in gieat demand at advancing prices. Maize is sought for with great eagemtss, as also Bran ; and our top quotations can easily be realised for good samples of all these articles. Potatoes are snlTin short supply, and worth £23 to £24 per ton. Fruit comes m better, but still unequal to the demand. Jams and Jellies are in fair supply. B a con, Hams, Cheese, and Butte* are all in great demand, and have every appearance of rising, the irnporrid stocks being considerably diminished. - Wines and Spirits have come very freely to hand, but the consumption is great, and quotations are freely obtainable. Sugar is in large supply, and many vessels are exp cted. Prices are about the same as last quoted, and market very quh t. Loaf Sugar is very scarce. Tea is also very quiet, and stocks large. Building Materials continue in great demand, and supplies come forward but slowly. Wooden Houses meet re.idy sale. In the early part of last month the Banks reduced the exchange on London to par, and gold immediately heo-an t ) advance, and has risen from 735. 3d., to 765. dd?, even 775. per ounce. There has been a decided react on as regards the diggings, and the news of the large nuggeis have recalled many diggers from the other colonies, and caused a kind of tush to the different fields. The escort brought down 222,329 ounces last month. Wo-l has risen Id. to 1 Jd. per lb., and large quantities have been shipped. Freights i to g per lb. to Loudon. We remain, Sir, yours respectfully, Coffey, Hill, and Co.
