The Churtom Testimonial.— We Lave- heem requested to mention that a General Meeting of. the Subscribers to this Testimonial will be held; in the Ifal! of the Mechanics’ Institute, at two» o’clock in the afternoon of Wednesday next, the 16th instant. This is in conformity with the condition stated in the heading to the subscription lists, that u a meeting of the subscribers would be called as soon as possible, to determine the nature of the Testimonial and its Site.” We are gratified to learn that the number of scribers is so large as that, notwithstanding (he limitation of the amount of any single contribution to five shillings, a sum is likely to be realized sufficient for the erection pf a Tcslim/v pial in some degree adequate to express the general estimation in which Mr. Churton was held by all classes of the community. A very pleasing feature in the movement is that the soldiers of the 58lh regiment have subscribed so freely and generally that ahoht 25/. has been raised by their contributions here —without calculating on any addition that may be expected from the portion of the regiment stationed at the Bay of Islands. This is honorable, not only to the memory of the deceased Chaplain, but to the military themselves, as indicating their just appreciation of his faithful exertions for their benefit.
Church Missionary Society.— We are requested to slate that a Sermon will be preached in St. Barnabas's Church, Parnell, at 3i p m, to-morrow, by the Rev. Robt. Maunsell, of Waikato Heads, and a collection made in aid of i.U<? Uig Church Missionary Society,
