The brigantine Raven, which arrived in our harbour yesterday forenoon from San Francisco, is bound to Sydney with 47 passengers, chiefly persons who iiad gone from thence to California, and are new on their return to Australia She has been obliged to jut in here for supplies, her provisions having mo very short of late—indeed they were nearly altogether exhausted a few da> s ago, when she fortunately fell in with the whale-ship Florida, of New Bedford, last from Monganui, hound home, whose Captain humanely afforded the Raven timely assistance. VV bile the Raven was at Wahu, the whaler Abraham H. Howland, of New Bedford, with 2700 barrels oil on board, 15 months out, got under way from her anchorage outside the reef, toproceel homeward, when a gale of wind set in, and she was driven ashore and wrecked on the reef on the night of the 7th December. After leaving the Sandwich Islands, the Raven spoke the American whale-ship Tiger, full, homeward bound. The brigantine is an American bottom, purchased at San Francisco by Mr. Wickham, of Sydney, who with his sons are passengers on hoard of her.
