Latto, of the Berwick Castle, for staling, that had he (Capt. Latto) been aware that brass ami other metal costings and ship’s smith work in general could have been manufactured in Auckland, that when he carried away his rudder on the passage from the Falkland Islands to Hobart Town, he would at once have bore up for this port; as by so doing he would have saved much time, escaped much bad weather, and spared his owners at least 500 L Mr. Bourne is, therefore, desirous that the Mercantile Marine of the Southern Pacific should be made aware that all defects of such a character can be made good at the Auckland Iron and Brass Foundry.
