The New-Zealander.
AUCKLAND, SATURDAY, JAN. 8, 1853.
He just and fear not: Let all tiie ends thou aim’st at, be thy Country’s, Thy God’s, and Truth’s.
A Government Gazette was issued yesterday evening. It is principally occupied by documents drawn ftp by Captain Drury, of lI.M. Surveying Vessel Pandora , including Sailing Directions for the coast of the Northern Island of New Zealand, from Doubtless Bay to Kaipara inclusive, round the North Cape, and Remarks on the River Ilokianga. In addition to the great value of this publication to the Maritime reader, it embodies much inlormalion which will be interesting to the general public; and we anticipate with pleasure the further information promised by Captain Drury especially, the “remarks on the nature of the country received from the OflTicers conducting the overland expedition.” The Local Government have manifested a judicious sense of the importance of these Reports by causing their immediate issue hero, instead of waiting until they might have reached the community most concerned in them through the publications of the Admiralty, or in sonic similar circuitous way. We transfer the documents to our columns in extenso , together with a Proclamation of a sale of Town and Suburban lands to take place on the Blh of February, these constituting the entire contents of the Ga cite.
