NEW ILLUSTRATED WORK.

To be Published in Imperial Quarto Parts.

"qnHE WANDERINGS OF THE X WANDERER,"

By John Webster, Esq., (Companion of the late Benjamin Boyd ;) i Illustrated by George French Angas, Esq., from Drawings made on the spot by the j Author, Being the Narrative of the Cruise of the late Benjamin Boyd, Esq., in his Yacht Wanderer, R.Y.S., from California, through the Sandwich Islands, the Kingsmills,— to San Christoval and Guadalcanal', one of the Solomon Group, where the lamented Mr. Boyd fell by the hands of the Natives; and the subsequent adventures of the Wanderer, till her wreck on the Coast of Australia, at Port Macquarie.

In offering to the Public of the Australasian Colonies this carefully Illustrated Work, the Author feels sure he will meet with that support so necessary to produce an undertaking like the present in a land where the Arts are yet in their infancy, — where (setting aside the interesting subjects of scientific and geographical research which will appear on its pages, and the novel and beautiful objects chosen for its illustration from a large portfolio of Drawings made on the spot by the Author himself), the leader of the undertaking, the late Mr. Boyd, was so well known to the colonists, and there are so many here interested in his fate, that an attempt to produce these illustrated memorials of his lasl voyage through the Pacific (in a style hitherto unattempted in the Colonies,) will, the Author trusts, be a sufficient inducement for him to hope for that liberal patronage which the work demands. The subjects of the Illustration will comprise many new objects of Natural History, drawn from the life by Mr. Webster,— Portraits of the Natives of the various Islands; the most singular and romantic scenes visited by the Wanderer, including the great Volcanoes of the Sandwich Islands; the Kingsmill; the spot where Mr. Boyd was murdered at Gaudalcanar, San Crislov.il ; and the various incidents connected with the cruise down to the wreck of the yacht as she lay on the beach at Port Macquarie. The whole of the Drawings -are to be Lithographed and colored by George French Angas, Author of u The Kafirs Illustrated," "The New Zealanders," "South Australia Illustrated," " SavagoLife and Scenes, & c,." and who has kindly offered to edit the work.
