SYDNEY COMMERCIAL INTELLIGENCE.

[From the " Einpite," October o.] A very limited quantity of goods have arrived during the week, and supplies of flour, sugar, ten, tobacco, fiuit, brandy, gin, cigars, grain, and pioviaion.s of all descriptions, fall far short of our demand ; a very good retail business has been doing throughout but only limited sale from importers. The Bank ot England has brought out a lurge number of passengers, and bul few goods; the advices by her of the state of trade in the homo market aie of the most flattering nature— a brisk demand with abundance of money and confidence, which we imagine has been the principal cause of our shot supplies of English goods. A very large quantity of' wool was to be ofFeied at the approaching sales, which it was anticipated would aff. ct previous quotations unfavorably. Copper had advanced 2d. per lb., and metnla were generally very firm, and much bettei prices ruling. In our market ilieie are no Bellera of brandy, and but few holders at nominal rates. Hum 1 has been quitted for strong at 4a. Gd.; gin at '2os. ; cigars aro much reduced in stock, and extreme rates ruling. I'ruit is held in moderate quantities, and large Bales reported j improved rates are looked for. Flour ib still quoted at 345. to 35a. per cwt. Tea haw been quiet throughout the week. Tobacco, Barret's brand, is in brisk doinand. Since the additional duly has been paid on wine, the demand has been excessive, and prices advanced 25 per cent, showing tho impossibility of our legislature, by any act of theirs, forcing tho community to consumojan article so ill adapted to their tastos as colonial wine is. Diamond, the lowest class of Hum's Port, realised at nuction, damaged by soa water, Cs. 3d. to 6s. 4d. per gallon. R. II aUN in , Broker. Sydney, 9th October, 1852.
