WE the undersigned, on behalf of oujl selves and fellow passengers who werl wrecked in the Dutch brigantine ''Ceres/ oil our way from San Francisco to Australia, 'feel it to be our duty to bear our testimony, be-j fore we leave this port, in the brig " Raven,' J for Sydney, to the humane conduct of Captaiil Phelps, of the brig « Daniel Watson," whq came to our relief and took us off -the island at Feegee on which he found us cast away an* in a very miserable condition. His own and his officers' lives were risked i. effecting our deliverance, besides the grea. sacrifice of time that he has made in bringinf us on to this port, while few of us were in circumstances to remunerate him adequately for his invaluable services rendered to us. W< trust that his conduct, and the loss he has su.s tamed, will give him a claim upon the coi deration of the Government here which wi not be overlooked, — 90 British subjects havir, been rescued by his disinterested humanir from what seemed then to be inevitable destrilc* tion of their lives and property.
