TO THE ELECTORS OF THE SOUTHERN DIVISION. f^ ENTLEMEN— I beg to announce to you my withdrawal from among the Candidates who are aspiring io ihe honour of representing your interests in the ensuing Legislative Council. In tendering my sincere thanks to the numerous and lrtghly respectable body of sottiers v> ho have promised me their support, I feel it incumbent on me, briefly to slate to them my reason for taking this step. Disclaiming anything like personal ambition ; my only object in allowing myself lo be brought forward as a candidate was, that the scullers '.should be fairly and honestly represented. Upon a careful scrutiny of the promised voles, I find that while I have an equal chance with the other Candidates, my going io the Poll would militate chiefly against the return of Mr. Porter, and believing Jt lo be for the interest of the district that that gentleman should be returned as one of our rcprcscn lathes, I consider it to be my duly lo retire from the contest in order lo secure his election. Trusting Gentlemen, that the step I have taken wilf meet with your approbation. I beg lo subscribe myself, Yours obediently, W. Buckland. Koliuora, Aug. 50th, 1852.
